A LEGACY ENTWINED WITH THE ALAMO

Constructed 23 years after the Alamo's final siege in 1836, The Menger Hotel has grown alongside San Antonio, witnessing its transformation from a frontier town to a bustling city. Our walls resonate with the tales of notable guests, including the historian and preservationist Adina de Zavala. Living at The Menger from 1926 until 1932, de Zavala played a pivotal role in
preserving the Alamo

THE ALAMO PLAZA

Alamo Plaza has long stood at the heart of San Antonio's transformation from a bustling marketplace to a center of historical preservation. The area witnessed a shift from military to commercial use in the late 1800s, fostering growth. This period of economic boom also marked the beginning of concerted efforts to safeguard the Alamo's legacy. Today, Alamo Plaza is a blend of the past and the present, celebrated as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Ongoing archaeological and conservation work continues to reveal and protect the Alamo's story, making it a focal point of history and culture.
